Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) evolved from a rich history of over two thousand years
of empirical knowledge and practical experience. Similar to the Chinese written language,
TCM employs relatively simple terminology to express complex and multifaceted concepts.

TCM is not only practiced in China, but worldwide. The introduction of TCM to the United States
has a history of only a few decades. From a completely unregulated environment to the establishment
of Acupuncture and TCM law on both a state by state and national basis, the road to general acceptance
by both the medical community and the public at large has not been an easy one. The current emphasis
in the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China is to support empirical knowledge and
practical experience with systematic scientific research.

Healing Arts

Massage/Tui Na

Tui-na/Acupressure is a form of Chinese bodywork therapy that dates back more than 4,000
years. It is considered one of the eight essential branches of Chinese Medicine, predates Acupuncture
as a modality, and is used to relax muscles, relieve pain and enhance body energy. As in the case of
Acupuncture, Tui-na /Acupressure stimulates the body's own restorative powers.

Beauty

TCM cosmetology is based in holistic health care. The ancient Chinese Doctors recognized
maintaining the beauty of the human body as one of the tasks of medicine. Historically, there have
been many herbal formulas for this purpose found in Chinese medical texts. Holistic beauty care
includes using various methods of maintaining optimal organ function. Treatment can be divided
into five categories; Herbs, Acupuncture, Massage, Qigong and other methods. These natural
therapies are safe and reliable with no side effects.

Nutrition Diets

Eastern nutritional dietary therapy is one of the most important elements of TCM treatments.
Westerners often say:" You are what you eat". The Chinese, however, strongly believe that "you could
be healthier if you know how to eat". Whereas a Westerner may begin their conversation casually
discussing the weather, it is a customary greeting in China to ask if, or what, you have eaten. This
illustrates the relative importance of food in Chinese culture.
